Sometimes Proof of Concept Is the Quickest Way

posted on 19 May 2012 in Computers

Whether it's design or functionality or both, sometimes creating a prototype is quicker than constant iterations of sketches and mockups. A proof of concept prototype often highlights potential issues inherent in a design that isn't obvious when it's only represented on paper or as a 3D computer model. As a programmer, I like to build the "bare bones" proof of concept program if it's pragmatic - rather than rely exclusively on logic diagrams, endless meetings, and theory. The law of unintended consequences means that no matter how hard you work on the theory, it's only in practise that you see the issues that arise - and there's no better practise than building a prototype and getting something working. This is also true in the server environment - if you can attend a business solution centre, you can see the environment you propose to buy into, in action - and you can see how everything works.

How to Market Your Business the Old Fashioned Way

posted on 18 May 2012 in Business and Finance

In today's society, marketing your business can be a real challenge. There are so many different companies in each and every industry fighting for ground and the chance to reign supreme among all others, that it can be difficult to get the name of an upstart business out there. Naturally, the first place many turn to when looking to market a business is the internet, but what are some good ways to market your business that aren't online? Newspaper ads are a great place to start. Draw up a bright, colorful, memorable ad for your local newspaper and have it printed in every edition. If your add is drawing eyes to it and the information is clear and concise, you're bound to attract more customers. Radio ads are another great way to market your business. Thousands of people in every city listen to the radio each and every day. Figure out a station that's likely to cater to your target audience, hire someone to record your ad aloud, and get your name on the airwaves. If neither of these methods are for you, the age old method of handing out fliers around town is still an excellent method of reaching consumers, or getting your logo on jewellery packaging (if you sell jewellery) and similar.

Find out the requirements for you to travel

posted on 17 May 2012 in Holiday and Travel

Traveling to Canada is probably one of the most complex countries with strict procedures that need to be followed. The idea of traveling to Canada will lead you to asking do i need my passport to go to canada. Yes, you need it. It is compulsory for one who is traveling by plain to travel with their passports there is no exception on this. It is only small children who are under the age of sixteen who are allowed to travel with their birth certificates, but for the rest this is compulsory. If you are traveling in a short while and you do not have your passport ready, you can apply with a private organization that will fasten the process and ensure that you get your passport in the shortest time possible. Canada is one of the countries which take such documents very seriously, for some countries you could simply use your original birth certificate to visit but as for this country, you must be owning your own passport to be allowed to operate and activity there.

General troubleshooting procedure for your hotpoint washing machine

posted on 17 May 2012 in Technology

In you are having a problem with your washing machine, just know that it is not a major issue if you know how to troubleshoot the issue. When purchasing my washing machine, I did not know how to use it and so since it was very difficult to operate, my perception was that it was not okay and that something was wrong with it. This is why i resorted to contact support, always know that whenever you have a problem with your machine, the issue can be very minor and if your are are able to contact support, then you can get the correct procedure. As for my case, i just tried to call support, then was told to look at the manual so that i can get to know how to operate the hotpoint washing machine since i was previously using another one from another company. I later came to realize that the hotpoint problems that i had was due to lack of appropriate water levels that i was supposed to put during the initial stage.

House As a Shelter and Security Provider

posted on 14 May 2012 in Home and Garden

Like everyone else's house, my house is a heaven for me. Everybody builds houses primarily for shelter. But most people also have a mental attachment to their house too. It's hard for me to be even 2 days apart from my house. It's our own house and it's our refuge, our sanctuary. It has lovely wooden trusses in an open entrance hall - in fact our house is one of those self build projects that have become popular in the UK.

It's our own house where our dear one's are staying. Most of the people will be feeling uncomfortable upon leaving their house and having loved ones staying outside. When our relatives, who were working abroad, reach their house, then we can see the real happiness in their face. The location where my house is at is a very pleasant one. Without heavy traffic and lots of trees on both sides of the road, my location becomes a perfect place for my house to be in. There are hospitals, a police station, IT companies and lots of other organizations near to my house. According to me, my house is a real heaven.

Working for something you know belongs to you

Figuring out stuff especially my stuff is what I have en doing since I was little. If I get stuck in something or with something, I would figure a way out of it. I would use all the options that I got to make things work when they have refused to go the way I planned them. As I grew up, this helped me a lot and I would be saving myself a lot of trouble. Some people never used to understand me because they never knew what was going on with me but I am the one who knew precisely what I was doing. I ventured online and learned how to get my site on google through my means and without help from anyone. I got my website where I thought it belonged and as it was to be, I got ranked the top website by google. This was a great achievement for me because I had dreamed about it for some time now and it came to pass. I got what I wanted and that was all for the moment.

There Are Many Aggravations Associated with Driving in Today's World

posted on 13 May 2012 in Cars and Transport

My work demands I spend much time on the road in my van. In fact it's my office, with its van shelves bought from Van Bitz and racks - I practically live on the road.

There are many things that irritate me about driving. The rudeness of some drivers is one thing I despise. I particularly do not like drivers who tailgate and drivers who pull out in front of me and then slow down. It also aggravates me when a driver has his hand on the horn and blows it before I have time to react to a green light. Drivers who drive much slower than conditions warrant also irritate me, especially when they are in a position that makes it impossible to pass. People who drive too slowly are often just as dangerous on the road as those who drive too fast. Gasoline has gotten so expensive that I have to consider the cost every time I leave my house. This is especially painful in today's economy when it is so hard to make ends meet. The price of gasoline has made the cost of commuting so high that only a job that pays a decent wage is worth having.

Bite the Bug, Don't Buy a Bad Gift

posted on 12 May 2012 in Business and Finance

In my years of buying gift's for my family and friend's I have never bought a bad gift - from the practical (a custom usb flash drive for example) to buying experiential holidays, I seem to get what people want. How? You may ask. Everyone makes a snap decision now and again when buying gifts. Which leads to that awkward moment of : oh dear they really didn't like it. Well to beat this from happening my best course of advice is to listen. Listen to what your loved ones tell you they really like or want. Listen when they mention some new album or some new product or experience they would like to try. This gives you the perfect basis to start. Some gift's don't even really need to cost a great deal of money. If you really think about the person their likes and dislikes , I am sure you can pick out the perfect gift. All without breaking the bank. I always think if you just put that little bit of thought into picking your perfect gift for someone. They will truly love it and you will avoid the awkward oh please like it moment.

The Two Sides of Driving: One is Enjoyable, the Other is Tiring

posted on 9 May 2012 in Cars and Transport

I am one person who loves to drive, I just love to take my new vauxhall corsa out and go for a long drive, and my work fan is always decked out with the latest van accessories. But, there are three things I don't like about driving. First, I just hate the traffic, specially the town I live in is highly populated with so many cars. It takes me so long to reach a particular place, half of the time I am just sitting in the car waiting for the person in front to move on. It's really terrible. I actually get exhausted. The second thing I hate about driving is when people do not cross the road properly, many people are crossing when cars are moving on high speed, they run but this becomes dangerous for the driver as well as the person crossing the road, they get confused and don't know where to go, front or back. People don't realize it's bad. Many times I had to apply a break forcefully and this is one thing I always try to avoid. The third thing I hate about driving is when large vehicles get in front of my car, this blocks my view, specially trucks and vans take a considerable amount of time to move on, it feels as if I am behind a small hill. In spite of all these problems I do take my car out, after all, driving is part of my daily routine.

Using departments to ensure effective service delivery to consumers

posted on 9 May 2012 in Computers

The beauty of technology is that it has within it the ability to correct itself when it notices a problem. This was not however so several years back and that was and still is the essence of constant and continuous innovation. This has been correct even a big and successful corporation such as Microsoft. They are where they are because of this continuous innovation. The leadership lays emphasis and demands that their employees should be innovators. There is no place for a person who is not innovative in Microsoft. With innovation however does not mean the absence of defects and many of the products from Microsoft have defects. One such product is the application that is widely used by many windows consumers and that is the outlook application. The defect is not great that can warrant its recall from the market and that is why it established the outlook support department within the corporation. Therefore in form of problem that is encountered by the users of the application is directed towards that department. This has enabled Microsoft to continue offering quality services to its consumers.

OK Computer Went Far Beyond OK

posted on 9 May 2012 in Arts and Entertainment

Radiohead’s “OK Computer” has been my favorite album since it was released in 1997 and nothing has unseated it from that special place in my heart. It’s that rare mix of innovative, perfectly executed songs that play well on the radio, but also sound and feel like they were written for me. From the opening guitar riffs on the song “Airbag” that punch into your brain, to the soft cushion that the final song, “The Tourist”, lays the listener down on, the album does such an amazing job of articulating a feeling that envelops the listener and pulls them into Thom Yorke’s arresting voice. Having done some work in a couple of recording studios in the Liverpool area, I can say that the production value of the album is strong. The songs on “Ok Computer” were so different from anything else available at the time but that’s precisely what has helped it live on for so long as my favorite album. Radiohead has gone on to make more fantastic music and my favorite Radiohead song isn’t even on “Ok Computer”. But it’s an album that’s bigger than the individual songs. It’s about how the entire experience of interacting with it, and playing it again and again until it was burned into my brain. And I hope it stays there forever.

Moving Away From Selling On eBay For More Successful Online Sales

posted on 9 May 2012 in Internet Related

The last time I had any personal success with selling on eBay was about a decade ago. It was easy to sell on eBay back then. The website still had not become as popular as it is today. That made it a less competitive market and made my products easy for buyers to find. Oftentimes I would be the only person listing a particular item. This has all changed since then on eBay. It became extremely hard or impossible to stand out from the crowd on eBay. In fact, I'm now looking for an alternative to eBay. Some people are quite good at this kind of market. I'm not one of them. I usually sell memorabilia, rare books and the like. I started to wonder if there was a better way to sell these online. Seeing as these items have a bit of a niche market, I started by going to where the fans most likely to purchase would be. I started to find several Yahoo Groups and mailing lists that would be specifically for buying, selling and trading. This has worked especially well for me when I find groups for fans of certain book series or television series. Going straight to those most likely to buy memorabilia from that series provides a target audience for the items right away. As an added bonus, I don't lose any money to listing the item on eBay or using the added features on eBay to make your product stand out. I'm now not only making money, I'm also saving money. I'm also in talks with a web design firm in the Loughborough area who may well be building me my own site (exciting times!).

On Figurative Contemporary Artist Martin Wallace

posted on 7 May 2012 in Home and Garden

The contemporary artist Martin Wallace has a sensational portfolio of figurative art.

Having been born in Birmingham, England in 1952, Martin Wallace has subsequently lived and worked in Brittany and Paris in France. Working in acrylics, Martin Wallace produces contemporary art in the genre of Edward Hopper or Paul Cezanne, creating highly composed pictures or tableaux, using a well crafted level of skill and artistic ability using form, line, shape, texture, composition and perspective.

Figurative has a long and fine tradition going back to the ancient Greeks, and before. Cave paintings from Lascaux in France are said to date back 16,000 years. Sculpture, portraiture, contemporary composition and stylistic art are all examples of figurative art, and are generally used to distinguish the forms of representational art from abstract art. Abstract art distorted or simplified form to a point where it often abandoned reality altogether. The figurative art of Martin Wallace is art, tableaux and paintings which represent the human form.

Why Relaxing in a Hot Tub is Heaven

posted on 7 May 2012 in Home and Garden

I love hot tubs and going to spas! The first time I had such an opportunity to try it I thought I am in heaven. It was such a great experience for me just to enjoy the water boiling and how my body just feels great. I did not knew how it is going to be but everything was perfect. The Spa and Relaxation Hotel just made me feel so good that I have decided to visit it again on my next holiday. The Spa location was amazing and I had just such a fun relaxing and do not worry in the Hot Tub. I will never forget the enjoyable feeling of just not doing anything and just resting my body to fill up with energy and motivation. It is a thing which is not always possible to do while you have all day work. But I know for sure I will do it again. I even bought my own hot tub (like this one) for my home.

Market Your Business: Use Local Media

posted on 5 May 2012 in Business and Finance

Marketing your business can be as simple or as difficult as you want. First you need to analyze who and where is your targeted audience. Is your potential customer or client going to read the citywide newspaper, or a small local publication? Consider advertising in local media, such as suburban city based publications. Think also about ad vans - mobile advertising! Many subdivisions have a monthly or bimonthly newspaper sent to residents, this is an excellent way to reach a limited, yet local targeted audience. Many churches provide for advertisement space on their weekly bulletins. While none of these options are inexpensive, they are cheaper than advertising over a larger area with limited payback. The options are endless look at the back of your grocery receipt, are there vendors listed with coupons and special offers? This could be you, you just need to open your eyes and look at the options others before you have found. Finding a creative option is always good, but it is not necessary to reinvent the wheel when it comes to advertising strategies.

Forest Park is a Relaxing Paradise Enjoyed by Thousands in Springfield, MA

posted on 5 May 2012 in Home and Garden

Forest Park in Springfield, Massachusetts, is one of the largest public parks in the United States. Of course, I didn't know that growing up. All I knew was it was an oasis from the shrill hustle that is Springfield a welcome retreat from the harsh gaze and attitude of my fellow city dwellers. Entering Forest Park is like entering another world - no buildings or sheds you often see in other parks - just trees, which are mostly pines, oaks, and maples. They tower above you and block out the city noise and fumes. Inside the park there is a vast open space, a field available for use for different sports, but most often used for sunbathing. On the great southern lawn of the park is the rose garden, a mature growth garden used for meditation and wedding photography. On the lower eastern ridge of the park stretch the water ways sparkling ponds that are a home to various waterfowl, including occasional Great Herons. Recently the park attendants installed these really cool looking solar mole repellers as they had a bit of a mole problem. Forest Park is an absolute gem of a park. I am lucky to have grown up so close to paradise.

Thanks Grandma for a Wonderful Childhood

posted on 4 May 2012 in Toys and Games

Of all my toys as a kid - from wooden toys to electronic toys to board games to dolls to remote control cars - my most favorite toy was called Capsella. My Grandmother purchased the set for my ninth birthday. The toy was made up of about fifty or so clear, two inch plastic spheres. Each sphere had gears, motors, switches, connectors and many moving parts inside. I could connect the spheres together at four points around each sphere. The instructions had many sets of plans to build all kinds of contraptions. Including boats, planes, cars and buildings. You could extend the set by adding a theme sphere set. I built submarines, planes, robots and just about anything I could think of. I also owned several of the add on sets. I think that this toy allowed me to not only use my imagination, but helped me understand how things work together and taught me to be more mechanically inclined. I really think that out of all my toys, this toy is one of my all time favorite childhood toys. Thanks to my Grandma, I really enjoyed my childhood.

Buying An Old House May Be Cheaper But Not Wiser

posted on 1 May 2012 in Home and Garden

Some people have a liking for old houses. They think it's a cheaper option than buying a new one. In most of the houses, if we calculate the amount, then we could understand that amount we pay is either for the land or for the house, but not the both. But the people who buy them do not think how much they have to spend on repairs. I work in plumbing supplies and I can't tell you how much time I spend working in older houses that are fixer-uppers. Most old houses are with numerous cracks. These cracks are very dangerous and it might lead to the house to collapse altogether. Then cleaning the debris would cost much more than we could afford. So, it is wise to see the strength of the house, if it is free from cracks and crevices. Each house has a life span. One must consider it before buying a house. I had an fantastic old house with outdoor decking and stair parts - all in excellent condition - but the roof needed so many repairs - and I didn't know this til 6 months after living in the house when winter came along!

My Simple Prayer for a Girl Named Debbie

posted on 29 April 2012 in Technology

Debbie was a beautiful girl. In high school, she was the Prom Queen. All guys wanted a piece of her then. Many girls would give anything just to be her. But that was many years back. Today, Debbie is no longer that kind of girl. She married very young so she did not have the chance to finish college anymore. After three years of being married, Debbie has now three kids. It would have been easy to say that children are God's blessings had her husband stuck it out with her. But Debbie and her kids have been abandoned by her partner. He left just a few days after Debbie delivered their third baby. How could he? He must have been heartless for him to do that. Anyway, rumor has it that Debbie has been doing reverse phone lookups with the hope of locating her partner. It must be terrible to be in her place right now. Debbie and I were never close but as a woman, I know that she deserves someone better and I wish her well.

Hardware and its importance in handling various gadgets

posted on 28 April 2012 in Technology

Hardware refers to the outer covering that is seen and found in different gadgets. It is the physical part that can be seen on a gadget. Hardware is of great importance when it comes to handling various gadgets. This is because it works just in the same way that software does if not better. For example the hardware sections of a cooker work by ensuring that heat is kept within a central unit thus preventing burning. The hardware sections in a fridge help to keep the cold on the inside so that too much energy is not spent on cooling. If in handling a gadget it is found to be problematic then the hardware should be the first thing to be checked. In the case of a cooker a cookworks manual can be used to identify the ranges of normal in the functioning of cooker hardware. If on inspection it is found that the cooker hardware is not working as it should then it can be easy to know the root cause of the problem.
